Signing with the Cross with Catechetical Students |

This year's class includes Stephen Boone, son of Karen Boone with Bob Jones as mentor; Corey Hospes, son of Richard & Vicki Hospes with Declan Jones as mentor; Emily Newcomer, daughter of James & Susan Newcomer with Jane Larson as mentor; Devin Owen, son of Kirk & Michelle Owen with Nick Buckman as mentor; and, Riley Weber, son of Gary & Shelby Weber with Bud Doebler as mentor. |
Beginning in September 2007, five fifth graders began
catechetical classes, joining five second year students. On
Sunday, November 18, the new catechetical students undertook the
milestone of, "Signing with the Cross." During the ceremony,
the students received the sign of the cross on their forehead, ears,
eyes, lips, heart, shoulders, hands and feet so that they may know
the Lord and the power of his resurrection.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the new students
received a copy of Luther's Small Catechism along with the blessing
of the Pastor and the congregation.
