All the Languages of the Good NewsAll the Languages of the Good News” Milestone Awarded

February 5, 2012

Awarding the MilestoneHow many different languages are used to tell the Good News of Jesus each time we gather! We read from the Bible, we hear a sermon, we act out God’s promises by the washing of Holy Baptism and sharing the meal of Holy Communion, we have conversation with God in prayer and song, we share God’s peace with a handclasp or embrace, we appreciate the reminders of the gospel through icons and stained glass. There are things to hear, to see, to taste, smell, and touch; all of the senses are involved.

On Sunday, February 5, 2012, St. Mark’s gave the “All the Languages of the Good News” milestone to those children in kindergarten. Two children, Abigail Elaine Robertson and Emma Rylie Elkin received this milestone.

Greeting the congregationThe world of young people is expanding greatly as they are trying so many new things. So also here in the fellowship of the church, these youth can use and experience many more of the languages of faith. To help them explore these things, they received a personalized bag reminding each child of their St Mark’s family. The bag contained several gifts:

At the conclusion of the service, the kindergarteners helped Pastor Elkin greet the departing congregation at the door.

The children and their families then enjoyed a lunch in Fellowship Hall.
