Harvest Home Sunday

Harvest Home collectionsSunday, October 7, 2012, was blanket Sunday. Every pew was adorned with one or more of the beautiful quilts created by the St. Mark's quilting group over the last year.

Blanket SundayThis year, the ladies sewed 101 quilts. The quilts will be sent over-seas to needy people, by Lutheran World Relief. Monetary donations were also collected to assist with the cost of the shipping of the quilts to folks who need them.

Harvest Home collectionsThen on the following Sunday, we celebrated Harvest Home.  In times past the congregation would have cheered the year's harvest, but now we collect food to give thanks to God for all our blessings.

All of the food collected in the church, and in a special collection in children's church, will go the the United Churches of Lycoming County Food Pantry, to serve hungry people of Lycoming County.
