Rose View Court is a retirement home located in Williamsport. Several residents of the Court are active members of St. Mark's. Is there a better way to spend a rainy spring evening than to visit and entertain at Rose View?

Entertaining at Rose View CourtOn Wednesday, April 9, 2008, the Social Committee along with several of St. Mark's more talented young people, and adults, put on a bit of a talent show to a crowd of about 30 residents.  Snacks were served following the performances.

The entertainment began with Sara Jones, a seventh grader at Curtin Middle School, playing a flute solo.  Sara played This is the Day.

After each musical number, Sara's mom, Bernadette Jones read from The Belle of Amherst, a play by William Luce.  Based on the life of Emily Dickinson  and set in her Amherst, Massachusetts home, the readings recounted her encounters with others in her life.

Riley Weber and Emily Newcomer, both sixth graders at Curtin Middle School, each played solos.  Riley played Simple Gifts on the cello and Emily played The Night Horseman on the piano.

All present then sang Now the Green Blade Rises while Sara, Emily and Riley played Orf instruments, instruments similar to a  xylophone, which are played using a mallet.

The performance was followed with cookies, punch and sandwiches, and a time to socialize.
