Independence Day Hospitality!

Independence Day Hospitality"Who wants free popcorn?"  That was the cry that met the fireworks crowd passing by St. Mark's on July 4.  "And hot dogs, drinks, candy, and trinkets for the kids - all free."

The free stuff was well received too.  Over 25 pounds of popcorn was popped.  More than 350 hot dogs were eaten.  Drinks were poured non-stop from 6:30 to 9:30 when the fireworks show began.  Mountains of trinkets, candy, booklets and coloring books were passed out to the crowd.

This was by far the biggest year for St. Mark's show of Independence Day good-will.  Donations were collected for St. Anthony's Center.

At 7:30, 75 or more folks were treated to Dick Lakey's patriotic organ program in the nave.

Of course, the front lawn was crowded for the fireworks display - and what a spectacular display it was!
